Normally, GCO posts here only items relating to state or local issues, but the following affects Georgians greatly. Many of you are already aware of VCDL’s petition for rulemaking to the Department of the Interior, asking the DOI to make National Parks rules on carrying firearms similar to the rules in National Forests. Well, now there is a federal bill that Georgia gun owners should support and upon which Georgians should demand swift action!
Senator George Allen (R-VA) introduces National Park carry bill!
Urgent! We need to roll up our sleeves and hit this hard! Senator George Allen, keeping his word to gun owners, has introduced S 4057, the National Park Second Amendment Restoration and Personal Protection Act of 2006, which will allow gun owners to carry in a National Parks.
Senator Allen needs to get the bill a Floor vote in the Senate and get it off to the House for passage, and that must happen before the end of the current session of Congress. That is not much time, so we need to do the following things ASAP to help Senator Allen MAKE THIS HAPPEN!:
1. Contact Georgia’s Senators and ask them to support S. 4057. Here is the contact page for Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson
2. Contact Senator Majority Leader Bill Frist and ask him to fast track S 4057! Also contact any friends or family that you have in Tennessee and ask them to do the same, as he will be more willing to listen to constituents.

3. Spread this email on other gun-related web sites and email lists so we can get the word out to gun owners across the nation! Send it to family, friends, and coworkers, even those outside of Georgia. We need Senators from other states to support this bill and quickly!
Here is the web page that lists all Senators and their contact information for those not in Georgia.
Ask your friends and family to contact both of their Senators and Bill Frist (item #2 above).
