Bill to Liberalize Car Carry Introduced in House!

Georgia currently requires that those without a firearms license must when driving either have their guns open and fully exposed to view or placed in the glovebox or console.  Representative Timothy Bearden, 68th District, has introduced HB 7, which would allow those not ineligible for a firearms license to carry a loaded or unloaded firearm anywhere in a car, even without the possession of a firearms license (this is already the law for those holding a firearms license).  This would get rid of the silly “open manner and fully exposed to view” language that the Georgia Courts have interpreted in such a manner as to criminalize possession of a gun if one police officer could see it at a traffic stop but another could not.  HB 7 would be a welcome change to Georgia’s firearm’s laws.

I’m glad to see that Georgia is extending the privelage to it’s law abiding citizens an extra measure of security by allowing concealed carry and carry in cars. We don’t always know what is coming our way in this country. The whole country was a more innocent place on Sept. 10,2001. My wife and I travel to Ga. a lot. She loves to spend my money at the malls in Augusta…I don’t complain because I like that area too. I would like to see if S.C. and Ga. could get together on recognizing each others carry permits. Our cultures are such that I consider all Georgians as family. I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad day or bad situation in all the times I’ve traveled to Ga. in the last 21 years….Please consider this….and as always I’ll keep you in my heart and Georgia on my mind…..Thank you
