It is a shame that Ms. Downey and others like her are so focused on attempting to remove the law-abiding citizens’ right to self-defense. We all know that criminals will not obey any so-called “gun free zone” and that establishing such zones simply causes the law-abiding citizen to be disarmed. Essentially they are disarmament zones that create a target rich environment for the criminal. Case in point, most of our nation’s most violent crimes occured in these disarmament zones: Virginia Tech, Columbine, Lubby Texas and other massacres are all examples of this point.

When will people realize that disarming the most law-abiding segment of society does nothing but create additional areas for criminals to safely ply their trade in violence?

I’m a law abiding, background checked, productive member of society.

Whether or not I have a gun on me when I go to the park (or anywhere else) is nobody’s business but mine and will never be an issue and never even be revealed to anyone at all unless I (or my familiy) become the victim of a criminal assault.

When will they get that it’s not me that needs to be regulated and controlled by disarmament laws…and that the people who are a threat don’t respond to disarmament laws?
