I am not saying don’t keep an eye on the US Congress for a bill that changes the current federal law, but there isn’t a thing Shirley or the TSA can do about it.

If such a radical bill comes, it won't be a stand-alone bill. It would be a separate rider in a very long bill. Maybe even in an Omnibus bill. That's the only way it could hope to pass.

kdp: The only feds that can do anything is the US Congress and they must change the law. The only way to make the entire airport secure according to current law is to make every entrance into the airport secure. Which means metal detectors at the front doors before you even get to the ticket counter to check your luggage. It also means TSA employee at every entrance. That is a lot of equipment and manpower.

Shirley would have to decide to spend a bunch of money they don't have to put in metal detectors at the entrances, you also have to think about the exits since you can turn around and walk back in them. That's just is not going to happen.

"How long do you think it will be before either the Feds or Shirley Franklin and the city council decide the entire airport deserves to be “secured”? "

Idk... I picked someone up there this evening and that place is crawling with cops. They have the pick-up/drop off area on lockdown. Multiple cops directing traffic seriously every 20 feet. I was carrying OC but didn't get out of the car. I thought I'd prob be in for it if I was pulled over when an ATL patrol car got behind me on the approach but luckily that didn't happen. I'm not driving to ATL unarmed, no way, no how.

Pay close attention to this: "no federal law prohibits firearms in the unsecured areas of the airport". In the UNSECURED areas of the airport. How long do you think it will be before either the Feds or Shirley Franklin and the city council decide the entire airport deserves to be "secured"?
